RestoreWorth FEMA Data.
For AI assistants.
A remote Model Context Protocol server that answers with the FEMA figures computed for this site: NFIP paid building claims by state and county, flood damage by interior water depth, and county profiles. Read-only, no account, no key. Amounts paid by NFIP, not repair cost.
Endpoint and transport
URL: https://restoreworth.com/api/mcp
Transport: Streamable HTTP. Each request is a POST of a JSON-RPC 2.0 message (initialize, tools/list, tools/call, ping). The answer is JSON, or one Server-Sent Events message when the client lists text/event-stream first in Accept or identifies itself as claude.ai. No authentication and no session are required; a GET returns 405. Every tool is read-only (readOnlyHint: true) and works on a closed set of files (openWorldHint: false).

nfip_claims_by_state: NFIP paid building claims by state
NFIP paid building claims for one US state or DC, 2020-2024 (FEMA OpenFEMA, NFIP Redacted Claims v3): number of paid claims, quartiles and median of the amount paid, dominant flood event and its share. These are amounts paid by NFIP, not repair cost.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Accepted values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
state | string | yes | 2 to 40 characters | Two-letter USPS code (TX) or state name (Texas) |
nfip_claims_by_county: NFIP paid building claims by county
NFIP paid building claims for one county, 2015-2024 and 2020-2024. Give a 5-digit FIPS code, or a county name and its state. A county absent from the table (it keeps counties with at least 100 paid claims) gets the state row, and the answer says so. These are amounts paid by NFIP, not repair cost.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Accepted values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
fips | string | no | pattern ^[0-9]{5}$ | 5-digit county FIPS code, e.g. 48201 |
county | string | no | 2 to 60 characters | County name, e.g. Harris County (needs state) |
state | string | no | 2 to 40 characters | Two-letter code or state name, with county |
flood_damage_by_water_depth: NFIP flood damage by interior water depth
Median damage ratio (FEMA actual cash value of the damage / actual cash value of the building) on NFIP paid claims 2015-2024, by interior water depth band and single-family one-floor segment. With building_value_usd, returns ratio x value: the median ratio of the band, not an estimate for this home.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Accepted values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
depth_inches | integer | yes | 1 to 240 | Interior water depth in inches (1-240) |
building_value_usd | number | no | above 0, up to 100000000 | Optional building value in dollars |
segment | string | no | single_family_one_floor_no_basement, single_family_one_floor_slab_not_elevated, single_family_one_floor_not_elevated | Building segment (default single_family_one_floor_no_basement) |
county_profile: County FEMA profile
FEMA open-data profile of one county by 5-digit FIPS: NFIP paid claims summary, disaster declarations since 2000, FEMA inspections of owner applicants (Individuals and Households Program), NFIP Community Status Book and CRS classes. A value the source does not give is returned as "not in source", never 0.
| Parameter | Type | Required | Accepted values | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
fips | string | yes | pattern ^[0-9]{5}$ | 5-digit county FIPS code, e.g. 48201 |
list_sources: Sources and refresh dates
Lists every source file this server reads, with publisher, dataset page, terms, as-of and retrieval dates, and the RestoreWorth page that publishes it.
No parameter.
Sources and data dates
The figures are read from these files, built into the server: no call to FEMA is made when a tool answers. The tool list_sources returns the same list.

What this server does not do
The figures are amounts paid by NFIP, not repair cost, or for the water-depth tool the actual cash value of the damage recorded on NFIP claims, which is not repair cost either. The server gives no repair-cost estimate: the calculators of this site and the cost-guide figures they quote are not served, and no figure from a cost-guide publisher is in it. It returns no individual claim record and does not predict the cost, eligibility or claim amount of anyone. A value missing from a source file is returned as “not in source”, never as 0. The function logs the JSON-RPC method, the tool name and the client’s user agent; the hosting platform keeps its own request logs.
