What this is
RestoreWorth is a set of cost tools for US homeowners dealing with property damage — water, mold, flood, fire and smoke, sewage backup. It exists to answer one question before you accept a quote: what work does this actually involve, and what do national cost guides publish for it?
You describe the affected area and the materials in it. The site applies published per-square-foot rates to what you described, itemizes the result line by line, and shows which cost guide each line came from. Nothing is hidden behind a lead form.
Who publishes this
RestoreWorth is published by the RestoreWorth Team. There is no named expert behind these pages and no editorial board, and claiming either would be exactly the kind of borrowed authority this site exists to avoid. What stands behind a figure here is the source printed beside it, which you can open and check yourself.
What this is not
RestoreWorth is not a restoration contractor, not an insurer, not a public adjuster, and not a lead broker. It does not refer you to anyone, does not sell or share what you enter, and takes no commission on any job. Nobody pays to appear here, because nobody appears here.
It also does not tell you whether your quote is fair. A national average and a quote for your specific property are different things, and the gap between them is often legitimate.
Where the figures come from
Every published figure is a national average from one of three US cost guides, each built by its publisher’s own method (contractor estimates, post-project surveys or labor statistics), quoted here without modification, with the date it was captured. Each one is checked back against the page it came from before it can enter the site.
Three coefficients have no published source — elapsed time, water depth and room count. They are carried over from the prototype, they scale the base row only, and they are labeled ASSUMPTION everywhere they move a number.
The full register of the sources behind every published figure, and the assumptions that have none, is on the methodology page.
Where this stands today
Not reviewed by a restoration professional. Every published figure is checked against the page it cites; the way they are combined is RestoreWorth’s own, and unreviewed. We say so on every result rather than implying an authority we do not have. Treat every figure here as a starting point for a conversation with a contractor, not as a substitute for one.
